The WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) saw Apple announce the successor to Yosemite – El Capitan due to launch in Autumn this year.
El Capitan promises to offer plenty to keep pro-users happy and below we’ve highlighted some of these key features and technologies.
Performance
Performance has been tuned across the system in El Capitan, making many of the things you do every day faster and more responsive. From launching and switching between apps to accessing email and opening PDFs, El Capitan makes your Mac feel fluid and more responsive.
Metal
New on OS X, Metal is an Apple software technology that delivers super-efficient access to the power of the graphics processor. Metal delivers richer graphics and enhances performance, opening up new possibilities for graphics intensive apps such as Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
Split View
With Split View, you can use two apps side by side in a full-screen space, so it’s easy to reference websites while writing an email, or use Messages while creating a report. You can even adjust the width of each window to make the most of your display.
Mission Control
A simplified Mission Control spreads all of your windows out in a single layer. Click one to bring it forward. Or drag a window to the top of your screen to access Mission Control and create a new desktop space, take your window full screen, or go full screen with two apps in Split View.
Spotlight
Spotlight now shows results for weather, stocks, sports, web video, and public transit. It’s also easy to find files with search queries like “documents I worked on yesterday.” And you can resize and move the Spotlight window to use alongside other apps.
Improved Fonts
The new system font in El Capitan brings a fresh, readable, and consistent look across Apple devices.
